Re: Controller Inputs frequently resetting to NONE

Oh, one more thing I can think of (no idea why this didn't occur to me earlier): If the previous MAME version does save the settings correctly, you could also try to just create a mame.ini by changing the desired settings with that older version of MAME so the changes get properly saved to mame.ini,...

Re: raiden2 problem

If I interpret things correctly, I think Tafoid noted that although a specific file has not been dumped yet, it is of no real consequence to the emulation. In other words, the game 'should' work correctly, and if it does not, there might be an issue with the emulation, and you may want to consider o...

Re: Controller Inputs frequently resetting to NONE

I'm not sure if this applies to you specifically, but there seems to be an issue with the latest MAME version where not all of the changes made with the internal UI get saved to the MAME .ini configuration file. http://mametesters.org/view.php?id=6637 If this does apply to you, a possible workaround...

Re: No versions of Virtua Striker work on MAME

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a MAME developer. I just wanted confirmation really, it seems even with the most up to date romset and latest version of MAME that Virtua Striker is red and listed as not working. I just wanted to check this is the case for others. Yes, if a game/system is marked as 'not working'...

Re: Handheld games with custom backgrounds showing non-lit objects

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, and it may be more than you bargained for, but: You could download the MAME source, edit the line in 'src/mame/drivers/hh_hmcs40.cpp' that checks for the filesize, CRC, and SHA1 to make it match your version of 'tmtron.svg', and then compile that custo...

Re: raiden2 problem

Not that this helps anyone at all, but ... When I start raiden2 on MAME v0.187 (don't know about v0.188), I get the message/warning "One or more ROMs/CHDs for this machine have not been correctly dumped." Which I guess means the game is known to not run correctly ?

Re: Handheld games with custom backgrounds showing non-lit objects

Not that this helps you at all, but: The addition of checking for 'tmtron.svg' seems to have been introduced originally with this commit : $ git grep "tmtron.svg" src/mame/drivers/hh_hmcs40.cpp: ROM_LOAD( "tmtron.svg", 0, 384174, CRC(06bd9e63) SHA1(fb93013ec42dc05f7029ef3c3073c84867f0d077) ) $ git l...

Re: Handheld games with custom backgrounds showing non-lit objects

Ah. I think I see what you mean now, and where I interpreted your post incorrectly. I fully expected that the 'tmtron.svg' was an *addition* and did not exist before. But it appears that the file does 'exist' in MAME, and is expected to be a certain size with a certain hash, and then you modified/re...

Re: Handheld games with custom backgrounds showing non-lit objects

I have no experience with this, but this *might* help: If mame complains about the single .7z file not being the right size/hash when you add things to it, you might be able to work around that be unzipping the file to the expected directory, adding your customizations, and renaming the .7z file or ...

Re: I need basic help with MAME - NES - Genesis, thank you.

--- I have been using unzipped files with M.A.M.E. (with extensions such as ".nes", ".smc", ".bin", ".cue", ".cdi", ".sfc", ".gb", ".gba", ".sg", and others) and they all work (unless I have not placed the B.I.O.S. for that console/system in the "roms" folder of M.A.M.E., but N.E.S. and Genesis do ...
