Re: minimaws: a reference -listxml consumer

And now I've improved it so you no longer need the manual schema creation step. Create/load the database with:

Code: Select all

python minimaws.py load --executable path/to/mame

Re: minimaws: a reference -listxml consumer

As of d969333 , minimaws demonstrates how to expose a little-known MAME feature: slot card BIOS selection. It's possible to select BIOS versions for certain slot devices, mostly Commodore peripherals (note elision of default BIOS on second disk drive, and forcing an empty slot): http://i.imgur.com/j...

minimaws: a reference -listxml consumer

There have been some changes to -listxml output, and questions about how to use it from front-end authors. In the interests of ensuring -listxml output is useful, and to provide a reference for front-end developers, I've added a Python-based -listxml consumer called minimaws, in honour of the now-de...

Attn frontend developers: machine flags in XML

We're hitting the limitations of the driver element and its attributes in MAME's -listxml output. To allow for inheritance, better deal with systems with configurable slots, and make handling of machines and devices more uniform, this element is being deemphasised, and some of its attributes are dep...

Note for Killer Instinct fans

As of MAME 0.188, different Killer Instinct boot ROMs are no longer treated as different machines. They're now treated as different BIOS versions for a single machine.

MAME 0.188 has been released!

MAME 0.188 MAME 0.188 comes to you with tales of perseverance, blind luck, and the kind of insanity you’d get from no-one else. By sheer chance, a DECO Cassette system Brian Troha picked up cheap happened to come with a set of graphics ROMs for Explorer. While the Explorer program cassette was dump...

The most notable new working machines are beloved Game & Watch titles Donkey Kong Jr. (new wide screen) and Mario Bros., and the ultra-rare Kaneko prototype Jump Kun (thanks ShouTime). There are also some newly support...

MAME 0.186 has been released!

MAME 0.186 It’s been one of those long, five-week development cycles, but it’s finally time for your monthly MAME fix. There’s been a lot of touched in this release, with improvements in a number of areas. But before we get to the improvements, we have an embarrassing admission to make: the game ad...

Re: [Q] Externally modular vs internally?

It would also be rather difficult to actually implement MAME as a bunch of dynamically loadable cores in a way that would work on OSX. Keep in mind that the Mach-O loader that OSX uses doesn't allow shared libraries to have undefined symbols. Users of devices call out-of-line non-virtual methods all...
