Re: Atari ROM Folder Help

I may have answered my own question. I read that you can create your own snapshots while in a game by hitting F12. So I did this for my Asteroids game and it created a subfolder under snaps called a2600. Inside that folder was a file called asteroids. Since the file name is the same as the rom name,...

Re: Atari ROM Folder Help

Continuing on my Atari project, I located files to support the screen captures and boxes so I can have my Asteroid game look like the other Mame emulation with the snapshots, PCB, and other cool supporting artwork that make the emulation complete. Honestly, this is more entertaining than playing the...

Re: Timex Sinclair Help

Pernod, First, A BIG THANK YOU! I am able to load this game now. 35+ years since I used that thing so yes, I forgot the load cassette stuff. I had an Atari 400 with a cassette player too. I ran into two minor issues. The first is you must use the left shift key only. After I downloaded the artwork t...

Re: Timex Sinclair Help

Update: I have been unable to get past the initial screen with the "K" on the lower left side of the screen. I have used the command line and can launch it from UI but get the same results. The UI lists both the console and the game as working (NO Sound as TI had none). No errors are recei...

Re: Timex Sinclair Help

Penrod, Thank you for pointing out my painful error. One of my medicines has been messing with my vision and I totally missed this. I also figured out it must be in a folder called zx81_cass in the software folder. After entering the correct command I got the ROM to load but all I got on the screen ...

Timex Sinclair Help

After learning more about the MAME system, I discovered that it emulates a dinosaur system called Timex Sinclair 1000/1500. WOW! Since I had one of these, I thought it would be cool to load one up and have a look. I reviewed the hash file zx81 and I have the correct rom asteroids.zip/asteroids.tzx C...

Re: Atari ROM Folder Help

B2K24,

I have successfully updated my ROMs for my Atari games. This is quite the learning curve! Sadly, my son will not appreciate what I am about to show him but has brought back many memories. Thank you for all your help!

Re: Atari ROM Folder Help

B2K24,

No, I am not familiar with the program as I am fairly new to this. I will take time to read about it and the link you provided.

Thanks again,
John

Re: Atari ROM Folder Help

After reviewing the ROMs I downloaded to match the cartridges I have, I am able to make them work. The problem I am running into is the Space Invader game (one example), when I run it, the game is in black and white. My rom was in color. If I review the 7z file, there are 20 different files with ext...

Re: Atari ROM Folder Help

So I finally figured out the problem. After reading a few new posts, I read where the UI must match everything including the CRC in the hash file. The post from B2K24 on another thread posted this information. I had not paid attention to the error in the command line as the game worked. When the gam...
