Emulating Modern Megatouch Systems

Tue Oct 10, 2017 9:38 pm

I posted a topic on reddit a few months back ( see here) and got a couple different responses to this.

One guy said this would be something happening in the pipeline with MAME.

"We'll get there in MAME once we have an x86-to-x64 recompiler. We recently added the 486+DOS based Megatouch XL machines from 1997 to 2002, and the gemstone series machines that run Linux on an IDT WinChip (basically Pentium 1-level performance) have a similar I/O board."

Something that sparked my interest with this is that some guy (and I use the term "some guy" with utmost respect because I actually don't know his name) "hacked" the Megatouch Force 2011 system, bypassing the security to extend the longevity of the machine. A really interesting watch as he goes his through his process here:

So for me, I'm just wondering what the easier route is, to implement a VM-like solution to emulate the Megatouch or is MAME actually close to implementing a solution for these types of systems?
