Mame 253 - Mr. Do - Auto Complete issue

The next 3 rounds played the completion music and ended.

Then round 14 worked normally.


Also, today, I ended round 3 by getting a diamond.

Then the same issue occurred. The next 3 rounds started and ended without doing anything.

...and round 7 played normally.

What is the OS being used? Which machine shortname (mrdo or another clone)?
Did you use official binaries located at mamedev.org?
Is this only something that shows in MAME 0.253 and not in previous MAME versions? Have you been able to confirm on any other versions prior to 0.253?

I was able to do some minimal testing - reaching past level 10 and the game seemed to work and it didn't skip anything for me.
Was not able to get a diamond yet, so I can't tell if anything special is happening there.

Operation system: Windows 11 v22H2

Rom set: mrdo

I downloaded the official binaries on March 30th.

I have not tested on a previous version because I always delete my old versions when the new release comes out. I played this on and off for years on MAME and never encountered this before and all of the sudden it happens 2x in a week.

I just played the Prototype MR Do and I actually got a diamond on my 2nd game on Board 3. No weird completion glitch occurred.

BUT... I noticed when I got the Diamond on romset: mrdo the diamond doesn't appear on the summary screen:

but it DOES appear in the Prototype:

My MAME 0.279 is currently in a state where if I start Mr. Do!, it will do the auto complete bug from the start and I presume forever (I let it run until stage 270). I would be happy to send any files if it would be interesting to the devs.

I presume this is an issue where you have selected in the DIP SWITCH menu the "Rack Test (Cheat)" option to ON. Simply toggle it OFF and the game should play normally. If you cannot navigate the menus well, you can also, exit MAME and find the saved file which has your dip configuration (default in CFG folder). Delete that and restart MAME.

Ha, you're right but I didn't go into the DIP switch menu so I have no idea how I switched this on accidentally.
