Hey everyone!
I’d like to share a project I’ve been building: Mame Guy, a Windows GUI to manage and curate MAME sets in a fast, practical way.
What it does
Mame Guy is meant to take the pain out of maintaining a clean MAME library:
ROM / CHD / parent auditing (quickly see what you have and what’s missing)
Metadata + media scraping (images + videos)
Genre filtering (and selection tools to build your ideal set)
Fast export of a curated set (copy / hardlink / move)
Multilingual UI (EN / IT / ES / FR / DE / RU / ZH)
Optional VLC playback for previewing videos
If you’ve ever wanted to keep a lean, organized, media-rich MAME setup without endless manual work… that’s the goal.
Why I made it
I wanted a tool that lets you:
* audit your collection properly (including CHDs and parents),
* bulk scrape metadata/media,
* then export only what you want into a clean destination folder — **without wasting time**.
Get it / try it
Everything is on GitHub here:
You’ll find setup instructions, requirements, and usage in the README.
I really want the community to help power it up
This is the important part: I hope many other users will jump in and contribute ideas, code, testing, UX improvements, anything.
* Found a bug? Open an Issue
* Want a feature? Suggest it (or implement it
* Want to improve performance/UI/filters/export logic? PRs are welcome
* Even small contributions help a lot (docs, translations, refactors, etc.)
If you try it, I’d love feedback: what works well, what’s annoying, what you’d want next.
Thanks and hopefully we can make this tool better together!
