Re: Neogeo doesn't work in new versions

There nothing missing. New mame versions does't read neogeo bios. Same bios file, in 0.190, works corectly From the url posted previously, which explains the situation but you chose not to read : https://docs.mamedev.org/usingmame/commonissues.html#missing-roms Why does MAME report “missing files” ...

Re: Querying rom inputs & sniffing rom memory

DISCLAIMER: I haven't actually looked at the MAME code. I have no idea about 1.), but I guess that parts of 2.) should be in the realm of possibilities? Some games/machines in MAME already support 'highscore saving' which specifically saves the highscore to your disk for later retrieval on the next ...

Re: ROMs Directory Structure Question/Suggestion

Well, if you compile from source on Linux (or install the binary package provided by your distro), I can see how you may have some more difficulty in figuring out how to setup MAME. However, I believe that the autoconfiguration magic you are looking for is too hard to implement (reliably), and perso...

Re: ROMs Directory Structure Question/Suggestion

Maybe I'm missing something here, but... When you download and unpack the official MAME self extracting archive, it creates multiple directories for you. One of these is called 'roms'. Is it really that hard to understand that the roms go in the directory named 'roms' ? What am I missing here ?

Re: Verifyroms?

There are many tutorials on it's usage to be found online, just search for them. One of the many that I found is here : http://mame.3feetunder.com/clrmamepro-quick-start-guide/ Just make sure you have a backup of your ROMs before you start messing around with them. If I recall correctly, the 'file' ...

Re: Verifyroms?

This might be of help: When you point the tool 'Clrmamepro' at your zipped roms and the desired MAME version, it can then - if everything is available - re-build the zip files with the correct roms for that MAME version and the zipfile name that MAME version expects. https://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmam...

Re: looking for tutorial on roms programming

Hi, I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for exactly (I can't really tell what it is you're looking for by reading your post), but The Internet Wayback Machine Archive has an archive of a (now dead) website called "Let's Hack Arcade Games" that has quite a few tutorials on how to go about us...

Re: Frustrated and losing heart

Hi, although I personally cannot provide discord/voice/chat to investigate, but in general and for this forum it might provide useful if you could : State what MAME version and variant (official MAME, MAMEUI, etc) you are using, on what platform (and version) you are running MAME (Windows, Linux, Ma...

Re: Defender emulation lag

Hi, Even though I'm certainly no expert on this matter here, you do seem to know what you're talking about. However, this is the official MAME forum for the official MAME version, and you have stated that you use Groovymame. I ass-u-me that the most people around here would prefer it if you could re...

Re: Flickering in Galaxy game (1971)

You need to enable 'hlsl' before the 'phosphor persistence' (blue, green, red) options become available in the MAME internal menu. (Also, you need to have d3d video enabled [the default on Windows as far as I know] because hlsl only works with d3d and not with opengl/etc.). I don't know how to enabl...
