MAME 0.227 Release Delayed to December 2020

MAME 0.227 release has unfortunately been delayed to December 2020. The slipping of release dates is nothing new in software development; it can, and does, happen with some frequency, for a whole assortment of reasons. That said, with an aim towards increasing the transparency with which the MAME te...

Re: CHD ROM was working fine... Now, for no discernable reason, it does not?

BTW: your own source misinformed me about frontend MAMEUI64's nature! https://docs.mamedev.org/usingmame/frontends.html That page specifically mentions "IV/Play", which is an external frontend for MAME, also available on the mameui.info website? "IV/Play" does not have its own w...

Re: CHD ROM was working fine... Now, for no discernable reason, it does not?

Okay, I think the crazy stuff going on might be because I extracted the MAMEUI64 *within the root MAME64 hierarchy, because these programs don't augment one another; I was misled by inaccurate information somewhere that MAMEUI was a frontend, not a variant of MAME. Okay, so the world (outside of CO...

Re: MAME32 Enable Controller

Thanks for the walk around the park... Listen, we'd like to help you more, but we believe you're asking for help with an unofficial fork of MAME (MAME32/MAMEUI) on MAME's official forum. This forum is almost completely supported by members of MAME's development team in their free time. So unfortuna...

Re: How do you update M.A.M.E.

A full 'rom set' is the collection of all the roms that MAME currently supports. But if you don't want to play all of them, then you will not need them all. For example, if you do not plan to play pacman, than obviously you do not need to obtain the roms for pacman, and only the roms for the games ...

Re: Duplicate Machine Disk (CHD) and romof, merge

I cast this over to my fellow devs on IRC (you should swing by sometime!) and they had this to say: area51t is a clone of area51, area51ta is a clone of area51, area51ta can't be a clone of a clone. You're looking at some technical debt due to old grandfathered-in schemes, aka the parent-clone relat...

Re: Mame Plugins

Is there any documentation that explains about these plugins? I'm interested in what the "console" plugin may do. :) The console plugin opens up a Lua console window from where you can manipulate a running MAME instance. Lua is a scripting language: http://www.lua.org/ The console lets yo...

Re: Discord Channel for MAME Development?

Hi ZPaul2Fresh8, we don't have a Discord but we do have IRC: https://www.mamedev.org/irc.html Feel free to go to #mame-dev on Freenode to give your thoughts and findings. (You must be registered on Freenode to talk there.) Aside from that, there's plenty of other ways to send us thoughts and finding...

Re: Windows Vista compatibility lost with Mame 0.209 ?

I used the 0.208 downloaded from lngn.net, and the 209 downloaded from choccyhobnob.com. The place to get the official version is the mamedev website or the corresponding github page at: https://www.mamedev.org/ https://github.com/mamedev/mame/releases/mame0209/ Unless it's the precompiled MacOS ve...
