Why are there stars in kong?

Actually, you can finish it. I just did it.
The ladder for the last climb at the top disappears and reappears only for a short time before disappearing again.

I climbed to the top and the stage didn't finish. After a while Kong moved across and killed me.
This game has additional climbing to do, to actually climb to where the girl sits like in a barrel screen, but the ladder to that platform only shows up for a very short time interval. The original game you only need to reach the level of where Kong is sliding left and right but this one is different.
