MAME32 Enable Controller

I don't know how to enable the controller on the Mame32 version. All I know is that this version has the default setting on joysticks/gamepad on OFF. Can anyone help?

mame32 is a very old version of the MAMEUI Windows version. There is no doubt a setting you can use in the menus to choose joystick (checkmark) to ON, but since this forum is exclusively for MAME integer releases from MAMEDEV.org only, we cannot really help you. I'd suggest either upgrading your MAMEUI which surely have joysticks enabled or learn your menus. The official MAME release come with joysticks ON as a default setting and has for many many years.

Listen, we'd like to help you more, but we believe you're asking for help with an unofficial fork of MAME (MAME32/MAMEUI) on MAME's official forum. This forum is almost completely supported by members of MAME's development team in their free time.

So unfortunately not - much as we'd like to help you, we can't support MAME32 here. We never created it. And there are substantial differences between its user interface and MAME's own.

It is best to seek help with MAME32, now known as MAMEUI, at its official support forums.

That would be here: https://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/p ... ard=mameui
Or maybe here: https://www.1emulation.com/forums/forum/125-messui/

For what it's worth, MAMEUI has not been called MAME32 in, I don't know, at least a decade. Their development team has also shrunk to basically one person. So if it is true that you're using something called MAME32, even that one developer will probably encourage you to update to the current version of MAMEUI. It's a bit like expecting Microsoft to still help you with Windows 98 or Windows Millennium or Windows XP. :)

In the meantime, we can endorse using the latest and greatest version of MAME for Windows, known as "MAME", from our official website here:
http://mamedev.org/release.html. It even has an integrated UI that you can use in a window or full-screen. You should take the opportunity to upgrade to the latest versions of MAME (0.224 at the time of writing) and enjoy all the improvements we've made over the past decade.
