Mame GUI Image Resolution

Hi All

Bit of a random question this but hopefully, somebody may know the answer. I'm trying to find out the "ideal" resolution for images shown in the right hand column of Mame's GUI.

I'm currently displaying flyers in the "Images" tab under "Snapshots". It seems that the larger images tend to lag a bit when scrolling through the list. I'm hoping to compress a lot of these images to speed up navigation.

If it helps, the OS resolution is 1680 x 1050 and the font size is 40 within Mame's GUI.

:)

I don't think adding images to a zip file will help in my setup as I save these images within the same folder as my roms (both using the same name). Having added the image to the rom, the image is no longer displayed. I have converted most *.png files to *.jpg which has reduced the file size from megabytes to kilobytes so this will probably help. Thanks for your reply.

It's better if you make a new folder just for the images, and tell MAME what you've done.
I'll give that a try. I was keeping the images in the roms folder as it was easier to see if any were missing but I guess I could tell within the GUI. Having them all in one place may even be adding to the problem.
