Help using MAME

Hi. I am new to MAME.
I have installed MAME 0.175, i downloaded roms and i copied them to the roms folder, but once i run MAME, i can´t start the game that i added because i can´t find it in the list of available game.
Thank you for reading and please help me.

When you first run MAME, you can get overwhelmed with the list showing multiple entries that you did not download which are entries which require bios roms and include many console which you can use to play games from those consoles. Rest assured i,f you obtained the proper romset (and appropriate device and/or bios roms as required), you will have no issues with this. You can download some free for personal use roms over at http://mamedev.org/roms/. I would use one of those as a test to make sure you configuration is correct. Beyond that, please read our documents at http://docs.mamedev.org/.

It's also possible to use the Parent or Clones filter on the left pane and type the name of the game which the listing will adapt to what's being typed.
