error in mame emulator 0.274

Hello MameTeam, the emulator version 0.274 does not work on my PC
I use the version from your website, that is, the official version
This has never happened to me
If I am missing a file on my PC that works, let me know
My requirements are:
AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 445 Processor 3.10 GHz
Installed RAM 4.00 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64 processor
Video card Nvidia Gt 740
I think that's all for now
Greetings from Argentina

First of all, it helps if you can be more specific about what exactly happens when you say that 'the emulator version 0.274 does not work on my PC'. Does mame start at all ? Does it 'hang/freeze' ? Do you get an error message ? If so, what is it ? Have you tried running it from the commandline (again, so perhaps you can see an error message) ?

Second, and I am by no means certain, but : The 'release notes' state that the 'Windows binary releases now require a CPU with x86-64-v2 functionality', and it would not surprise me at all if your CPU that was released 15-ish years ago (back in 2010) does not support/have that. But perhaps someone more knowledgeable on that matter than me can answer that question.

Also: You did not specify your operating system, which would be relevant (especially if it is something equally old as your CPU).

Re: error in mame emulator 0.274

I suspect your CPU is too old.

MAME 0274 requires a x86-64-v2 CPU. It says here https://www.mamedev.org/

I wondered what was going off, some computers work some don't.

So get a new PC or stick on 0273.

Cheers

For what it's worth: I tend to agree, but would find it worthwhile if we could somehow find a way to determine if this is true or not.

Re: error in mame emulator 0.274

This CPU appears to be too old to qualify as "x86-64-v2"; it has a few features required by the spec, but not all of them.

The easiest option is to continue using 0.273. If it plays all the games you want, it might be satisfactory to stay on this release. If you depend on the software lists, you might be able to slot in hash/*.xml files from newer releases to "backport" them in a way (this won't help for some system changes and compatibility fixes).

A more difficult option would be to compile a custom MAME build for yourself that doesn't require these CPU features.
