Why are there two mame downloads?

I haven't updated mame in a while and I notice there are two downloads. One seems to be the main folder for the emulator and the other is a xml document. Do I just put the document in the folder or is there a place for it to go?

You only need the first download.

OK, thank you. Out of curiosity what is the xml document?

If you were to type >mame -listxml at the command line, you'd get lots of info about the games and the roms they need. That xml file is just that output - just in case you want it for something.
