I haven't tried to use MNG files myself, but it appears you are correct. From what I was reading, MNG is simply a stack of PNG images displayed one after the other in sequence to give the illusion of animation.

aviwrite is the preferred option, but as you note, the files grow incredibly quickly, so fast that some hard drives can't keep up. mng format, as I understand it, isn't really supported by much external software, and I suppose should be regarded as legacy. Modify the inipath in your mame.ini and remove the dot semicolon part at the start of the line.

HBMAME has that feature in many of its pacman and mspacman games. Just hold down CTRL to speed up. If it doesn't work, it because that particular set doesn't support it, try another one. Just tried it - worked for me.

None of that stuff is any use.

You need to start the game (dkong for example), press Tab, DIP Switches, Cabinet. It should say Upright.

The setting will be saved in cfg\dkong.cfg - not in any ini file.

Also - tell your Windows to show file extensions.

Couldn't replicate that either. Inputs should be disconnected when it doesn't have focus.

It's "spacewars" that has the music, not spacewr3.

Arcade64 also filters out entire source codes where none of the games within, are at a playable state. Nothing in namcos23 is working, so it isn't there. You'll have to try MAME or MAMEUI or some other thing to see how broken it is.

It doesn't hang for me, but mame was running quite slowly. This has been fixed, but as there's still no graphics, they are unplayable.

Your video shows MAMEUI64, which isn't really supported on this forum.

You can't disable internal artwork via the command line, as it is compiled in. But you can kill off the external artwork by setting artpath to something that doesn't exist.

Files missing means you are missing some roms. Good hunting!

Ctrl+Alt+Esc is intercepted by Windows (minimise current window) and never makes it to MAME.

You'll have to reassign one or more actions to other keys; or Arbee might change them to ease the pain.

In my opinion it should be marked as NOT WORKING. It is not possible to complete the pie stage.

Just hold down Insert to speed past the bits you don't want. It speeds past the red or yellow warning screen too.

Have a look how other bugs come with supporting evidence, so that can see how to create your report.

I don't think any frontend does auditing of software. Perhaps that's something for the future.

The only difference with my setup is that my background has a jpg extension - so it's background.jpg

There's a patched QMC2 executable available to fix some problem that occurs with latest MAME.

I'd say that clrmamepro is correct and that your QMC2 is in error.

I believe that would be correct.

The other thing about -listsoftware is that it removes the comments that are in the hash files.

1. There's no option to disable certain image categories.

2. How's it going to know what roms are there without having to audit all of them? It doesn't keep a cache of found rom info.

It's already been added to HBMAME 0.217 - available around Christmas.

There's already many hacks in HBMAME with Jessica uncensored.

There was a substantial upgrade of BGFX, which brought along with it a crop of bugs.

I don't use BGFX myself, but if you're sure there's an issue, you can log it as a bug over at Mametesters.

You can contact the developer on mame's IRC channel.

Data plugin enables the display of history.dat, mameinfo.dat and so on.

Ah, then MAME is probably looking in the zipfile for the rom and not finding the jpg.

It's better if you make a new folder just for the images, and tell MAME what you've done.

I don't know the answer to that, but if you store your images in a .7z file they will take longer to appear. Try saving the images in a .zip file instead.

You can get old windows versions at https://www.mamedev.org/oldrel.html , there's no need to compile.

Checked the new rom, the one-byte change makes sense, so it has been added.

Excellent news that you've got it working.

In what way are they combined? If one is simply joined to the end of the other you can use the copy /b command from the command-line.

There was a whole heap of breakage during the 0.184 to 0.185 cycle, and perhaps your problem is caused by that. However it is working with the current git version. I'd suggest downloading 0.186 when it is released next Wednesday and give that a try.
