Sound problem.

Hi!

I tried the latest version at Win 10 x64 Pro.

Everything worked fine, except sound.
The sound is crackling - sluggish.

I tried lowering the samplerate, but it didn't help.

I changed the sound mame.ini setting, from default to xaudio2 and wasapi.
The later improved the situation, but the sound is still a bit problematic.

Any other options?
Suggestions?

PS. Where is located the documentation, describing the above mentioned settings?
I couldn't locate it.

To be specific: with which games (or systems) are you experiencing this behavior ? I ask this because the only legitimate reason that I know of for this to be happening, is because in some cases the emulation can be more demanding than the hardware (CPU) can handle. This is especially apparent in that case, because the (too slow running emulation) will cause the sound to run to slow, resulting in 'stuttering'.

In other words: it may be the case that for specific games, you will need a better CPU to run it at full speed. Please do note that for some games it is even the case that no current CPU's can run the emulation at full speed, so getting a new CPU will not help you in that case.

Simple ROMs, from from the past (eg. the free ones).
No HD images or such.

Could you name specific games ? And the mame version you are using ? That way people can see if they can reproduce your issue with the same game(s) and mame version.

I'm using the last latest stable release (286b).
I tried all free roms. At some the sound is flawless, while at some other, not.

Anyway, Windows 10 is overcomplicated and I don't trust it.
I already installed mame at linux, and indeed the repo version is a bit behind, but it works.
I don't have plenty of time right now to test the windows port, so please lets drop it for the time being.
