I have 4 separate folders (ROMS, SAMPLES, BIOS, CHDS). If I put the folders samples, bios, and CHDS inside the ROMS folder, will it work correctly for any emulator to recognize the bios, CHDS, and samples inside the folder with the ROMS?
Is it necessary to unzip all the files?

Also: No, it will not magically work correctly for (quote/unquote) 'any emulator' (emphasis mine). Different emulators have different requirements.
