NES Classic Edition

I have mame running on my nes classic, but I'm having a problem. On two games, Lunar Lander and Battlezone, the games start just fine. But after I "put in coins" and then hit start to play the game, the black and white mame menu pops up, making the game unplayable. I know that on the computer, I can just hit escape to get rid of the menu and play the games, but I can't figure out how to do that on the nes classic. I found a retroarch mention of Mame Menu, where you hit the HOME button to get rid of the menu.

But is this the correct option ? Also, the home button exits Mame and goes back to the NES Classic menu. If this IS the correct button option, I can just remap it. But I want to make sure first so I don't have to reinstall the entire program.

Any ideas ?

Just curious: What Mame version are you running on your NES Classic ?

I've got mame 2003 for the majority of games, but there were a couple that wouldn't work so I got mame 2000.

Re: NES Classic Edition

Please forgive me my ignorance, but that doesn't really sound like an 'official mame' release number to me. Is that a Mame derivative (and if so, which one), possibly based on official Mame 0.36/0.37 (which were released in 2000) ?

MAME 2000 is .37b5 and MAME 2003 is .78

Re: NES Classic Edition

This is the fourth place Spottedfeather has posted this question, and he's going to get the same answer everywhere:

"MAME2000", as you might infer, is 17 years old. MAMEdev generally does not support stuff past about 6 months old, and we definitely don't support third-party hacks. We can't help you with this problem unless you're having it with MAME 0.178 on a standard x86/64 PC/Mac/Linux machine. Please contact the makers of RetroPie or MAME2000 or whatever it's called for support.

I don't think there is any need for name-calling here. The answer is correct: You can only expect the 'official mame' developers to support their latest official release on the supported platforms (like PC). If you cannot reproduce an issue with that because it only occurs for you with an Mame derivative (RetroPie/MAME2000/etc) then you have to look to the developers of that particular Mame version for support.

I don't mean to be rude, but I think this is a place where anyone can get help. Although, it's great that someone out there might have the answer you're looking for, I don't think it's fair to be upset when people don't have an answer for something that's 17 years old. Technology now stays really up to date to compete, and it just isn't in the means for the devs to continue supporting something so old.

They didn't coward. They talk to you. :D

Official MAME only support some of Linux, some of Apple PC and some of Windows. I don't know what else Official MAME are supporting on. Official MAME don't support Android yet. Official MAME don't support everything.
