Re: is MW down forever?

I'd assume that anyone who maintains such important externally produced files will need to find alternative methods to share their updates or find a new host (should mameworld not be returning). There is always a bigger fish..

Re: is MW down forever?

Mr. Do may have to find another place for the artworks. If staying down forever.

FYI, MASH has successfully transitioned to github too:

Re: is MW down forever?

ARCADE64 moved to https://messui.1emulation.com/arcade for the release of 0.284, and

Twisty's Samples are now lost to us, but there's the alternative at https://www.progettosnaps.net/samples/

Mr Do's artwork had been down for a long time due to database problems, so no change there.

MAME Classic front end might emerge in a new place, but that's still being worked on.

It can be assumed that the dozens of other sites won't be back.

And, no, I won't be signing up for reddit, because the place is a cesspit, and it is affected by proof-of-age laws in my country. I certainly won't be providing personal information to them or any other similarly-affected site.

Well, perhaps not entirely. Thanks to the magical effort of 'archive.org' aka "The Internet Wayback Machine' aka 'The Internet Archive", we may still have some (limited ? ) access to it. At least some of this (or perhaps even all) seems to have been archived over at these urls :

https://web.archive.org/web/20251125113 ... rld.info./

https://web.archive.org/web/20251127001 ... orld.info/

But they may be in need of a new permanent home now.

PS:
If you find the efforts of archive.org worthwhile enough, please consider to make a small donation. Thanks.

They shared some information in the comments at the link below. I believe a server has been provided and backup processes are being carried out, if I’m not mistaken. Hopefully, the site will be reopened soon after the necessary fixes and updates are completed.

Re: is MW down forever?

Should we start a new thread with a list of all the MAME resources and where they can be found? If they are MW hosted we can try to help get them relocated.

Re: is MW down forever?

Actually, it can be continued with Blogger for the blog and a free forum. It might be good to check Archive.org and make an update using current sites.
By the way, there has still been no development regarding the explanation above. I think the site will no longer be accessible.

Sorry my bad English.

Let's look for a wave of new reimmigrants from MAMEWorld.

Preserving EmuLoader: New site online and call for contributors

Hi everyone,

In light of the discussions regarding Mameworld’s future, I wanted to share an update regarding EmuLoader.

As many of you know, we lost Ciro Cosentino some time ago. To prevent his years of dedication from vanishing, I have recovered the original pages of the website and brought them back online at a new address: 👉 https://emuloader.com

My goal is to preserve Ciro’s legacy. I have already started by hosting the website's source files on GitHub: GitHub Web Repo: https://github.com/ilsaul/emuloader-website

The Current Situation & Call for Help: My next step is to put the EmuLoader source code on GitHub. I have the files Ciro left behind, but there is a hurdle: he used some customized components, and unfortunately, I don't have the latest versions of those specific modified libraries.

Furthermore, I am trying to track down older versions of the source code to make the repository as complete as possible from a historical perspective.

I am seeking contributors: I'll be the first to admit that I don't have the same technical expertise as Ciro. I am looking for developers who can help identify or reconstruct those missing components and help maintain the project. If you have old backups of the source code or want to contribute to the development, please let me know.

Let’s make sure Ciro’s hard work continues to serve the emulation community.

Best regards, Saul
